Photo essay - hye soo kim

Nowadays, environment pollution has become a serious problem. Even though we  cannot notice a big change in our lives yet, the global warming problem is getting serious. Our Spring and Fall are slowly fading away. In addition, many species of animals are lost or going since their habitats such as the river is polluted.  Plastic has a particular big effect on pollution. So how can we improve this problem and what kind of effect does plastic have on human's and animal's health?

We are constantly using plastic in our lives. But plastic can have a tremendously bad effect on lands, waterways and oceans. Plastic may release harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil,  seeping into groundwater and other water sources. This can pose serious harm to the living organisms that drink the polluted water. Also, nurdles(plastic particles) are spilled into oceans, and it has been estimated that it has a global effect on beaches. Plastics in oceans typically degrade within a year, but not entirely, and in the process bad chemicals such as bis-phenol A and polystyrene can leach into waters from some plastics. Polystyrene pieces and nurdles are the most common types of plastic pollution; when combined with plastic bags and food containers, they can make up the majority of oceanic debris. Plastic is poisonous to animals, this problem can reduce human's food production too. Because animal will or get sick when they eat the plastic, hence we might get sick by eating the infected animals.

Therefore it's not just an issue for other living things but also for ourselves. We need to care about plastic pollution and improve this condition! We may be able to find a perfect solution yet but we can improve it.
